Annual Dinner Attended by Governor McGreevey

On November 7, 2002, Governor James E. McGreevey joined the Research and Development Council of New Jersey in honoring Raymond V. Gilmartin, Dr. Joseph J. Seneca, Victor J. Ferlise and the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award winners at the Council's Annual Dinner. (Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award winners) For his efforts and outstanding leadership in uniting industry, academia and state government in the pursuit of creating a research based economy for New Jersey, Governor McGreevey was presented with the Chairman's Vision Award.

The R&D Council of New Jersey awarded Raymond V. Gilmartin, Chairman, President and CEO of Merck & Co., Inc., with the Council's Science/Technology Medal and named Dr. Joseph J. Seneca, University Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Educator of the Year. The Council awarded Victor J. Ferlise, Deputy to the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), the Chairman's Recognition Award.

In the Chairman's Address, Mario M. Casabona, R&D Council Chairman, applauded New Jersey businesses and universities for innovative discoveries that improve the quality of life for millions upon millions of people. Read the Chairman's Address.
