2001 Annual Awards Dinner
An Evening of Science and Celebration
On November 8, the 22nd R&D Council Annual Awards Dinner took place at the
Liberty Science Center. The event, which honors outstanding New Jersey R&D
professionals, featured a cocktail hour, awards ceremony and celebratory
dinner.
Honorees include Dr. Saul K. Fenster as Educator of the Year and Dr. Arun N.
Netravalli with the Science Technology Medal. The 2001 Thomas Alva Edison
Awards winners included Merck Research, Wyeth-Ayerst Research, Telcordia
Technologies, Inc., EMCORE Corporation, Lucent Technologies Bell
Laboratories, Engelhard Corporation, Rutgers University, Stevens Institute
of Technology, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Also honored for their commitment to science technology education were
Sandy Buleza and Mary Masterson, Coordinators of the Science Olympiad in New
Jersey. Julia Stapleton, New Jersey Department of Education, was honored
with the Chairman's Award of Distinction.
