2003 Thomas Alva Edison Patent Awards Nominations Due May 1, 2003

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Nominations Due June 1, 2003

The Research & Development Council of New Jersey is currently accepting nominations for its 2003 Thomas Alva Edison Patent Awards. The awards recognize patents issued in New Jersey for innovations in the engineering, science and technology-related fields. Nominations are welcome from any New Jersey-based research and development company.

Each year, the Council honors outstanding patents and their inventors in categories such as: Medical/Health, Energy Innovation, Computer/Information Technology, Industrial, University/Technology Transfer.

Last year's winners included scientists from Princeton University, Schering-Plough Research Institute, ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company, Lucent Technologies/ Bell Labs, Sun Chemical Corporation, FMC Corporation and the Army CECOM's Research, Development & Engineering Center. The awards were presented at the Council's Annual Dinner on November 7, 2002. The Council also presents the Science/Technology medal and the Educator of the Year Awards at the event.

Nominations must be received by the Chairman-Awards Committee by May 1, 2003.
