Council Committees
The R&D Council is comprised of a number of committees whose purpose is to identify key issues affecting R&D and work towards creating a strong, healthy environment for the continued growth of R&D within the state.

Below are the goals of the R&D Council Committees.

Awards Committee
Encourage more patent submissions - 3-5% -- from both member and nonmember companies,

Position the awards as a coveted prize worth competing for through participation, and

Determine any additional categories and/or special awards for deserving individuals/ companies/educational institutions

Minutes of all meetings will be submitted to the Councils office and posted on the members only section of the website.

Education Committee
Manage established scholarship programs, and recommend additional scholarship initiatives,

Look for opportunities to develop partnering between industry and academia,

When appropriate, liaise with other associations on key issues that directly or indirectly affect the R&D Council and its members as it relates to educational issues,

Monitor the educational initiatives, programs and state activities as they relate directly or indirectly to R&D and Council,

Represent the Council in all educational related activities, and

Expand the R&D Week education/career presentation initiatives.

Develop subcommittees to address specific areas, such as corporate ducation trust funds, scholarships, R&D Week, etc.

Environmental Committee
The Councils Environmental Committee will serve to monitor environmental issues that impact R&D within the state. The Committees goals are to:

Develop relationships with NJ DEP representatives,

Voice the Councils interest in assisting with solutions to problems that effect members,

Monitor legislative and rulemaking activities that may effect R&D members, and propose recommendations to respond to such actions,

When appropriate, liaise with other associations on key issues that affect the R&D Council and its members,

Minutes of all meetings will be submitted to the Councils office and posted on the members only section of the website.

Facilities Committee
The Committee will present pertinent topics to the Board during regularly scheduled meetings.

Committee members should identify the issues relating to R&D labs that may have broad range impact,

The Committee should identify specific appropriate topics for discussion at the board meetings in order to find solutions issues that affect R&D facilities. This can include such topics as:

  • Energy reduction and procurement.
  • Outsourcing.
  • Modular construction applications.
  • Accelerating design and construction.
  • Operational problems in research facilities.
  • Effective plant management and operations.
  • Benchmarking of costs.
Results of discussion should be written and posted on the Councils members-only section of the website.

Membership Committee
Maintain contact with existing members to insure the Council is meeting members needs.

Assist the Councils office in recruiting new members focusing on companies with 100+ people in R&D employed in New Jersey.

Review all Council membership materials and recommend appropriate updates to the Council office,

Work with the Council office in updating Member Only area of the website.

Minutes of all meetings will be submitted to the Councils office and posted on the members only section of the website.

Nominating Committee
Prepare the slate for next fiscal year's Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Minutes of all meetings will be submitted to the Council office.

Public Affairs/Government & Legislative Issues Committee
among the specific goals for the PA/Government Affairs Committee is to raise the visibility of this Committee among R&D members, member companies and the state.

Develop appropriate relationships within state government that may in order to determined key issues that may directly or indirectly impact the R&D function within the state,

When appropriate, liaise with other associations on key issues that directly or indirectly affect the R&D Council and its members.

Track legislative issue that may impact R&D,

Work with Councils lobbying group when/if needed,
