Kim Case, Esq. is the Executive Director of the Research and Development Council of New Jersey.

The Research & Development Council of New Jersey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating an environment that supports the advancement of research and development in New Jersey. The Council’s membership includes representatives from academia, government and industry. Currently chaired by Vice President and CTO of Honeywell Specialty Materials, Dr. Ian Shankland, the Council’s accomplishments include: recognizing the most innovative patents in New Jersey through the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Awards, raising the funds for the design and construction of the Liberty Science Center, and annually awarding dozens of scholarships to students pursuing an education in R&D related fields.The R&D Council of New Jersey…

  • Raised the funds to build the Liberty State Science Center.
  • Worked with the State of New Jersey to create tax credits for R&D facilities.
  • Has partnered with the New Jersey Science Olympiad to create a statewide science competition for students in grades 6-12.
  • Offers a dozen scholarships to New Jersey college students each year.
For more than forty years the Research and Development Council of New Jersey has served as a means of cultivating an environment supportive of the advancement of research anddevelopment activity throughout the state of New Jersey. To that end, the R&D Council has established a number of working committees designed to identify key issues that effect R&D in New Jersey, as well provide programs that foster the continued growth of the R&D function.The R&D Council provides a wide array of member benefits, among them:
  • Provide a number of forums for the exchange of information among members including the allocation of resources and management for research and technical activities.
  • Analyze New Jersey legislative, regulatory, and administrative proposals or issues that effect the R&D community and take appropriate actions to assure support of the R&D function.
  • Provide an on-going means of learning, sharing and networking among the technology based community to encourage economic growth for both large and small organizations.
  • Develop and conduct activities designed to preserve public and employee confidence in the safety of research and development.
  • Recognize the achievements in science, research and development, and technical education within the state of New Jersey.
  • Establish and maintain an active stance on matters dealing with economic and political changes that effect the R&D function on a statewide and national basis.
  • Provide a channel through which R&D Council members can promote the enhancement of educational opportunities and facilities.
  • On-going communications with the membership on activities of the R&D Council.
